Taimen is the oldest active fly fishing shop in Poland and an independent brand of technical apparel for anglers. Since 2000, we have combined practical knowledge from real fishing grounds with our own design and production experience. This means we understand not only what sells—but more importantly, what performs when you step into an icy river with eight hours of wading ahead. Our roots reach back to the late 1990s—a time when only a handful of Poles used the internet, and modems were the gateway to being online. That’s when we launched FlyFishing.pl—Poland’s first online portal entirely devoted to fly fishing. In 2000, we opened the Taimen store—Poland’s first online shop dedicated solely to fly fishing, and one of the first of its kind in Europe. We introduced dozens of brands that had never before been available in Poland. But eventually, we knew we could build something better—under our own name: Taimen.

Taimen, as a brand, was born of a desire to create. From our own practice. From experience.

We don’t do this for the market. We do it because fly fishing is part of who we are.

Our business is not the indulgence of a millionaire who decided to "invest in fly fishing" for the sake of it. Fly fishing is not another category in a broad business portfolio. It is not the result of Excel sheets or brand consultants. It is not an "inspiration" or a fashionable niche—it is a touchstone that has shaped our thinking, actions, and creations for years. We didn’t build a brand because someone told us to. We didn’t chase a niche—we were already there before it was one.

Although everything began with a desire to improve our fly fishing, Taimen as a clothing brand emerged from the need to do things our own way. We are not a company built around logos, catalogues, or advertisements. We are a company built on passion and everyday dedication.
Taimen is not a "brand with a marketing team." We are people who know this company from the inside—because in a small team, everyone does a bit of everything. We design, test, pack, speak with customers, answer questions, solve problems. While we don’t have large departments—we do have individuals who take responsibility and truly know what they are doing. Taimen is not only our team. It is also our customers who share their experiences from the water—telling us what works, what should be improved, and what they truly need. This enables us to refine our gear based on real needs, not marketing assumptions.

Taimen gear is not created based on a creative agency’s brief nor designed by guesswork. It is tested in the real world—on rivers that tolerate no mistakes and in seasons that grant no leniency. Before introducing any new product or solution, Taimen gear is tested by us and our friends—people who fish often, with intensity and full dedication. Since 2005, we have also operated a trout fishery on a mountainous stretch of the Vistula River—a section reinforced with concrete back in the 1970s. In the early 2000s, catching a legal-sized trout there was near impossible—we wanted to change that. We launched the fishery to make real fly fishing possible in Poland. Today, after years of effort and restoring salmonid populations, it is where our gear is tested most—during fly fishing, fish rescue efforts amid ongoing construction, and the daily tasks of our fishery keepers. In winter, when cormorants must be chased away, there is no room for error. Taimen must truly deliver.
